What is w3rdle?
We are building a community of people who love puzzles and words by giving them the chance to own a word as a digital collectible. We packaged this entire experience by drawing inspiration from a popular New York Times puzzle game. We challenge our players to solve for a simple word puzzle by guessing a unique and randomly assigned word to them. If they guess it correctly, they are presented with the option of owning that word digitally on the blockchain. Otherwise, they can continue playing the game and guess a different word.
Founding Story
Towards the end of 2021, NFT projects were being launched here and there. People were buying into promises in the metaverse and flipping their purchases for hefty earnings. Most of these projects were launched with imaginative lores, easing speculators to participate in the craze around this new technology that communities were built upon.
Simultaneously a growing number of Twitter users would tweet cryptic green and yellow blocks daily. Thousands of people were having fun guessing the word of the day and sharing how well they did it on their social media profiles.
“Did you get to guess the Wordle for today already?”
It was in the middle of these online phenomenons where w3rdle was founded. While there was growing interest in NFTs at that time, an ordinary person would still find it intimidating to join the hype train. On the other hand, people of all walks of life—including non-techy people—would gather together over a coffee table to collaborate to solve the Wordle of the day.
How can we bridge the gap? How can we make it easy for web2 folks and even those non-techy people to appreciate the technology behind NFTs? How can we ease in education without the highfalutin jargons?
Over the past 9 months, we built w3rdle to represent the first digital collectible for hyper casual games. It stands for making web3/nfts as simple to understand as possible. The approach is providing a familiar concept which is playing a word puzzle game and then seamlessly integrating the NFT minting experience with it.
There are different things you can do with the words that you collect.
Run initiatives that will help educate people about web3 in a fun way - we will be supporting community-led initiatives on hosting trivia nights and getting people interested to learn about web3 to participate.
Partner-driven benefits based on the words you collect - we will be funneling back benefits from partner brands such as freebies and discounts based on the words that you own. For example, if you own words that relate to travel or gaming, you will be the primary beneficiary of rewards from brands that are related to these.
Monetize through physical items - we will provide the community with options to design and print items on physical goods such as shirts, jackets, mugs, etc. Proceeds will go back to the owner of the word/s used and partially to the community.
First-in-line access to future projects - the success of this project will fund the creation of the next ones. We have plans on developing digital collectibles around popular hypercasual games that we believe will contribute to onboarding more people into Web3.
